The Council on AI Governance is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to developing open, current, and pragmatic AI governance resources for enterprises. We develop and share frameworks, provide tailored assessments and training, and work closely with industry, government, academic, research, and international organizations.

Leadership

  • Var Shankar

    Var Shankar is an AI policy attorney. He previously practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and worked on the Clinton Global Initiative.

    A graduate of Harvard Law School, Var teaches AI governance at Purdue University and serves on expert boards at the OECD, Brookings, and the World Economic Forum.

  • Alexis Cook

    Alexis Cook is an AI engineer and educator. She previously led educational programs at Kaggle’s community of over 10 million data scientists and contributed to AI efforts at Google.

    Alexis has previously worked at the US Department of Defense and the MIT Lincoln Laboratory. She holds an MA in computer science from Brown University.
